Going to Long Beach, CA for this year's conference and stage expo? We'll be there all three days, March 29 - 31, selling our book and getting a chance to meet our clients face-to-face, so please stop by at table 21 and say hi!
For the show, we are creating a new sword, a transitional rapier we've named the Scaramouch. We will introduce it into our sales and rental line-up on April 2, but USITT conferees will get to preview it - and get to buy them at a show special price.

"Transitional rapier" is a modern term that describes the civilian sword as is moved from the bulk of the cut-and-thrust rapier to the lightness of the finesse smallsword. As you can see, one feature was the elimination of the pas d'anes as a way to hook the index finger over quillon. This begins the shift from holding the weapon with the rapier or Italian grip to the French grip.
